Creating Community

Want to create a caring and connected community on your street?

Step 1 - CONNECT YOUR NEIGHBORS

The easiest way to connect your neighbors is to invite them to a potluck party!

  • -Put invitations on neighbors’ doors and ask them to bring a sweet or savory food to share.

  • -At the party, ask neighbors to share their email address with you.

  • -After the party, email neighbors to invite them to share their contact information (household names, home address, cell phone numbers, pet names, etc.) for a neighbor info sheet.

  • - Create the neighbor info sheet and share with everyone!

Step 2 - COORDINATE NEIGHBOR GATHERINGS

The easiest way to do this is to designate one night a month (or every other month) as a potluck “neighbor night.”

  • - Text or email your neighbors the neighbor night list of dates for the next year.

  • - Ask neighbors to volunteer to host a specific neighbor night in their home or yard. Hosts only need to provide the location, beverages, and paper products.

  • - Send out the completed neighbor night schedule and enjoy a year of fun with your neighbors!

(Other neighbor gathering ideas include: Game Nights, Talent Shows, Coloring/Craft Time, Cookie Decorating, Chili Contests, Ice Cream Sundae Parties, National Night Out, and Book Clubs)

Step 3 - COME TO BLOCK LEADER MEETINGS

The easiest way to stay encouraged as a Block Leader is to attend our quarterly Block Leader meetings!

Block Leader meetings are casual and friendly. We get to know one another better, enjoy encouraging training, and set good neighbor goals for the coming months.

"Never believe that a few caring people can't change the world.

For, indeed, that's all who ever have."

- Margaret Mead
